SERIES TITLE: Personal/Political |
|
|
A series of political memoirs by women who have been active in the rough-and-tumble of politics, some of which have been translated from regional languages into English. Not all of these are records of women in institutionalised ‘power’ politics. What they do have in common, however, is the remarkably ‘human’ aspect of women's political—activism-the so-called ‘soft’ issues that remain essential to a life of dignity; a concern for the relationships between individuals and groups; between the local and the national; between social change and progressive politics.
